The beautiful park-like surroundings of the school grounds, and the gracious old 3 storeyed "Homestead" building, have been nurtured and well maintained so that the College environment is a peaceful and pleasant educational environment for pupils and staff. Each boy at Lindisfarne is placed in one of 4 'Houses'; Oswald, Durham, Aidan and Cuthbert - each named after early Christian martyrs or saints.Christian worship is a vital element of College Life. Since 2000, as a College we actively worked to broaden the horizons and opportunities of our teaching staff and our students. For over two decades Lindisfarne has had long standing GAP exchanges for Year 13 leavers in a number of prestigious Boy's Schools in the United Kingdom, i.e. Merchiston Castle School (Edinburgh), Campbell College (Belfast), and Whitgiff School (London). Our senior rugby sides have made seven overseas tours to South America, North America, Ireland and the United Kingdom. Lindisfarne College has built up an enviable reputation in its half-century of growth for producing excellent academic results. With fourteen scholarships awarded in 2005, we achieved the highest numbers in the province, of which three were scholarships with outstanding Performance (i.e. top 1% of candidates). In 2006 Lindisfarne students gained eleven subkect scholarships, and three scholarships of outstanding performance. second for Boys School Nationally (behind Wellington College second for Decile 10 Schools (behind Wellington College) second for the Hawkes Bay Schools (behind St Josephs Maori Girls College) The college itself is in great Heart, we continue to achieve results that are well above those of many schools that are much bigger in size.
