Educators have established an atmosphere that promotes childrenâs wellbeing and belonging. Most children settle easily on arrival at the centre. Children relate well with others and appear to value being a member of a group. Children are able to develop reciprocal relationships with staff and readily approach adults for support and guidance. All-weather roofing over a large portion of the outdoor area including the sandpit, carpentry area and swings, provides children with more access and choice in their play and exploration. The supervisor and staff have established and maintained purposeful communications and supportive relationships with centre families. The centre uses a variety of methods for sharing information. Ongoing informal dialogue enables families and educators to share information regularly. Children benefit from this collaboration between home and centre. Educators demonstrate a commitment to include aspects of the MÄori dimension into the programme. Children are gaining an appreciation of the dual cultural heritage of New Zealand. There are some areas of centre operations that require strengthening to enhance the quality of education being provided. The range of ongoing learning activities and experiences available for children is limited. A more planned and organised approach to the learning environment and better use of resources to engage children in their learning is required. Childrenâs engagement in learning is not always effectively facilitated by educators.
