  • Product list: St Matthew's Early Childhood Centre is a Community Based Childcare Centre under the umbrella of Waiapu Anglican Social Services Trust Board. The centre is situated in the central business district of urban Hastings; on the grounds of the St Matthew's Anglican Church. We welcome all denominations. The centre is licensed for full daycare from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. We provide educational care daily for 30 children, five under 2 years old and twenty five over 2 years old. We are licensed as a mixed age centre that enables all the children to interact together. We provide full time, part time and casual care; the centre has an Enrolment Policy. Five staff members have their Early Childhood Diploma and one has her Bachelor of Education. Of the five three are fully registered and two are provisionally registered. We have two staff members in their first year of training and two staff members in their second year of training towards their Diploma. Our Office Administrator has a St John Pre Hospital Emergency Care Certificate, is a Volunteer Ambulance Officer and teaches the New Zealand Fire Service Fire Wise Programme in schools and Early Childhood Services. We have a full time Childcare Helper who assists educators, looks after food preparation, cleaning and helps to supervise the children. We employ an adult to help supervise the lunch period and she also volunteers her time to work with the children. These staff members all have a current first aid certificate. We are used by training institutions for students to train in our centre on practicum. The centre philosophy is "Children learn through play and a stimulating environment. Educators are trained to extend children's knowledge and development, promoting their confidence and independence, within a caring and safe centre. Together we will have fun." The Early Childhood Curriculum is called Te Whaariki and Kei Tua o te Pae Assessment for Learning: Early Childhood Exemplars. Our learning stories show the process of how your child learns and devlops new skills to be a competent and confident individual.
