The Castle was built by Pamela and Kelvin Baker, with their own hands, taking 2 years of hard toil - a true testiment to love and determination. They purpose-built the castle to house their huge collection which is displayed in truly amazing scenes and settings, enjoyed by all ages, men or women, girls and boys. The big train set with its wonderful countryside, is a big hit with everyone. The collection covers boys and girls toys from the 1800s to todays toys. It has been featured extensively on many TV programmes, including What Now; Havoc Newsboy; Praise Be; Going, Going, Gone and My House, My Castle. The Castle has a full cafe in the castle's Great Hall, with a Gift Shop, specialising in unique gifts. Only a 2 hour drive from Auckland, Tauranga, Hamilton or Rotorua, The Castle is within 1 min. walking distance of the marvellous shopping mecca of Tirau, well-known for its boutique and antique shops. It is on the crossroads of SH1, SH27 SH5. Open on school holidays - 9.30am to 4.30pm. Entry to Castle is free. Admission fee to Toy Doll Collection $8 per Adult, $5 per Child.
