  • Product list: Arles is a homely 1880s country homestead now standing on the edge of Wanganui city adjacent to the Whanganui River. It is nestled in 2 acres of rambling gardens full of native and exotic trees and abundant birdlife. The centrally-heated smoke-free homestead has 3 units in its guest wing. Two rooms have en-suite bathrooms, queen or king-size beds and one has a private balcony. The other unit is a 2-bedroom family unit with double and twin beds and cot, if needed. The private bathroom is a few steps down the hallway. Guests have their own rimu-panelled lounge with complimentary wine or sherry, fully-equipped kitchen/laundry and internet in the library. Breakfast is served in the dining room overlooking the gardens and is a sumptuous affair guaranteed to stop the hunger pangs for a few hours. Sue bakes fresh bread and makes all the jams and marmalades on the table. There is fresh fruit and usually a freshly baked cake or muffins along with a cooked option if desired. Separate from the house is Treetops, a fully self-contained apartment comprising 2 bedrooms (queen and twin beds), fully-equiiped kitchen, dining/living room with double sofa bed, bathroom with shower over bath, separate toilet and small balcony. There is a salt-water swimming pool and barbecue for all guests to enjoy along with the large front lawn - perfect for a game of badminton or volleyball. Arles is perfect for a weekend away just relaxing with a good book or game from the well-stocked library or stay a few days and explore the region thoroughly. Wanganui and surrounds has some of the most spectacular unspoilt scenery in New Zealand. The city has many heritage buildings, art galleries and one of the best provincial museums in the country.
